Sunday services

They're the heartbeat of St John’s.

Everyone is welcome at any service - we’d love to meet you

Each week we meet at three times:

8am

This traditional service is rich in liturgy with hymns accompanied by the historical pipe organ and Holy Communion together each week.

10am

With a fantastic children’s program alongside contemporary style services that are warm and alive, people of all ages find a home in our 10am community.

6pm

Our evening services are creative, vibrant, and energising. We love singing praises to our great God and engaging deeply with his word.

What should I expect?

everyone is welcome at a st john's sunday service.

When you arrive at St John’s for a Sunday service expect a warm welcome. A regular member will greet you at the front door and if you like they can help you find a seat.

Our services go for no more than 90 minutes and involve singing praises to the Lord Jesus, prayer, readings from the Bible and a sermon where we are challenged to apply the Bible’s teaching to our own lives as we seek renewal and the good of all in Ashfield and wider Sydney.

We value getting know each other so there's plenty of time to meet people after the service over a cup of tea or coffee or even a meal in a the local dumpling restaurant.

We’d love to see you on Sunday, even if you have never been to church before. Each week we have people from all sorts of backgrounds and church experiences at St John’s. We don't expect everyone to be a Christian so you’ll never be asked to do or say anything that you don't want to. Our hope is simply that you will come to a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to follow him.

kids at st john's

We love welcoming kids to St John’s! Our children’s programs are far more than child-minding - they are places for kids to learn, have fun, and get to know each other in a safe and welcoming environment.

On Sundays, at 10am, Kids Church runs alongside the regular church service. It’s for children from years K-8. Each week, in learning from the Bible, the kids sing songs, play games, use their creativity in craft, and form friendships together.

Creche is also available for children aged 0-5. Together at creche we sing songs, hear bible stories, and have a fantastic time with a team of experienced leaders and helpers.
